SCOTTISH LEAGUE/CUP
Premier League
The Scottish Premier League, currently known as the Clydesdale Bank Premier League for sponsorship reasons and often known as the Scottish Premier League, Premier League or SPL is a professional league competition for football clubs located at the top level of the Scottish football league system — above the Scottish Football League. Per capita, more people in Scotland watch their domestic top level league than any other nation in Europe. The Scottish Premier League is currently ranked tenth in the UEFA rankings of European leagues, which are based on the performances of member clubs in European competitions. The current champions of Scotland and holders of the SPL title are Celtic.
Scottish Cup
The Scottish Football Association Challenge Cup, usually known as the Scottish Cup, is the national cup knockout competition in Scottish football. The trophy awarded to the winners has the distinction of being the oldest national trophy in the world.
The tournament is currently without a sponsor but a consortium lead by Mark Pryde of Prydeco is hoping to bid for sponsorship commencing the 2008-09 tournament.
League Cup
The Scottish Football League Cup is an association football competition open to all Scottish Football League and Scottish Premier League clubs. At present it is also known as the CIS Insurance Cup owing to the sponsorship deal in place with CIS Co-operative Insurance. In the past it has been sponsored by Coca-Cola, Skol lager, and Bell's Whisky. The competition, like the Scottish Cup, is currently a straight knockout format.
Rangers F.C. are the current holders after defeating Dundee United at Hampden Park on 16 March 2008. After the match was drawn 2-2 after extra time, it went to penalties which Rangers won 3-2 in a shootout full of saves and misses by both sides.
Currently, the domestic television and radio rights are held by BBC Scotland.

Scottish Premier League 2008–2009
The 2008–09 Scottish Premier League season is the eleventh season of the Scottish Premier League. It began on 9 August 2008 with a game between Falkirk and Rangers. After the 33rd round of matches, the league will split in half and each team will play a further five matches against the teams in their half. It is the second season under the sponsorship of the Clydesdale Bank.
